goals

To provide video clips as part of an interactive learning experience for learners aged 16+ who had not yet managed to gain a Level 2 qualification in Maths.

The video clips needed to help to keep the learners motivated whilst explaining concepts in a clear and helpful way for them.

approach

The writing was essential to the production process. We spent months liaising with the subject specialists to make sure it contained all the necessary subject matter and information.

It was our job to make sure the tone and content was presented in a way that aids the learning process.

Similarly, we needed to make the visual presentation style clear and understandable. We used an animated presenter to talk directly to the audience.

Whenever possible, we used still and moving imagery to demonstrate the concepts and ideas discussed. Motion graphics and animation helped to illustrate the more technical points

Importantly, we kept the video clips short and succinct in an attempt to maintain the viewer’s interest. We wanted the approach to stimulate the learners’ interest in order to keep them motivated.

results

Learners love video. Video clips add another layer of interest to this course on the Competence app.

This maths course gave us the opportunity to create content that is focused on problems and techniques the learners need to understand if they are to achieve their qualification.
